Charleston, S.C., – The Gibbes Museum of Art has launched A Souvenir of Charleston, a new virtual exhibition now on view in the Gibbes’ mobile app. The collection features several works depicting Charleston, one of the top tourist destinations in the world. The Gibbes has launched the virtual exhibition as a way to continue their mission of enhancing lives through art during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Known for its historic architecture, idyllic landscapes and complicated history, Charleston attracts over seven million visitors annually. Artists throughout the years have found inspiration in the Holy City’s steepled skyline, its beautiful gardens and sunny coastline. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, travel to explore the city’s sights is limited, so the Gibbes has curated a collection of views of Charleston that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home.
